LaRouche: "The intention of this act of terrorism is to drive the US-government into flight forward. Instead international cooperation of governments is needed!"
Being on the air with "K-talk"-radio station in Salt Lake City, which broadcasts all over the United States, in the morning hours of September, 11 -- exactly at the time when the attacks against the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington unfolded --, 2004 Presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche, who had strongly warned against acts of terrorism to occur especially in this very end phase of the systemic breakdown crisis of the global financial system with the U.S. at its center, made the following crucial points:
Since this operation "is big, very big", and certainly much more than a mere terrorist act, "international cooperation among governments is needed to get this thing under control". LaRouche called on U.S.-President Bush to "immediately contact Russian President Putin, and key leaders in Europe, Japan, and China" to work out "consultative agreements" among these governments to bring the situation under control. Obviously, LaRouche offered to advise the U.S.-President in this situation.
Concerning the crucial question of "Who has the capability to conduct such a sophisticated operation against the United States? -- an operation, which, according to serious security experts, is far beyond the capabilities of any "normal terrorist organization", since it requires enormous logistics and even monthlong training of military and/or related professionals, LaRouche said: "The intention, the capability for doing this, does not come from the Arab world. Some people would like the United States to go to war against the Arab world. People like Samuel Huntington, the author of 'Clash of Civilizations'. It is a geopolitical intention."
Furthermore LaRouche pointed to the most obvious question, which in the meantime was also raised even by government officials in Europe and elsewhere: "Where were the relevant intelligence agencies which are in charge of monitoring this problem?" According to LaRouche, "there has been some kind of either incompetence or fix on the whole security operation, because you can't get this kind of thing without a real goofup on the security side. Somebody in charge of security was really not very effectively in charge."
Pointing to the danger, that certain circles in the United States could exploit the sheer panic of the American population to install martial law or even authoritarian rule, LaRouche said: "We should -- without panic -- correct some things as fast as possible. The United States needs a Franklin D. Roosevelt. We have nothing to fear but fear itself. You do not win wars by panic, or by flight forward; we must keep cool. In the next hours, the existence of the United States will be in jeopardy. Martial law would be the wrong thing to do. The United States should be mobilized to have a heightened sense of security, but not martial law."
Finally LaRouche pointed to the underlying reason for the present crisis: "The financial system is going to crash, it is happening right now. We got into this mess because of the institutions of our government. Nobody was paying attention; we set ourselves up for this kind of crisis. What we have to do, is remove the long-term and medium-term causes of this crisis."
Apart from making the necessary changes in the relevant U.S.-institutions, LaRouche was referring to his widely discussed proposals for a "New Bretton Woods" to replace the hopelessly bancrupt present IMF-system, as well as the establishment of a New Just World Economic Order, centered around big international infrastructure projects, like the Eurasian Landbridge, to bring about "Peace through Development".
